AI for Science

Agentic laboratories and automated research systems, from scientific world models to benchmarks for drug discovery.

I am particularly interested in AI for Science, and work with universities and research institutes to design and build agentic laboratories and automated research systems. With a broad group of collaborators across the sciences, I co-authored a perspective on agentic laboratories of the future and world models for scientific discovery (Fu et al., 2026). DrugDiscoveryBench (Akyürek et al., 2026), built with Phylo, measures how coding agents handle early-stage drug-discovery tasks. Earlier at Microsoft Research, I co-developed FaST-LMM (Lippert et al., 2011), a linear mixed model for genome-wide association studies.
